to UF Hybrid Rocket Team
Hey Rocket Team,
Thanks to everyone who came out at the meeting Tuesday. We had some
good ideas from people and had some good discussion of the flight
profile options and the different payload landing options. Credit to
the two guys that improved the leg design in SolidWorks, and credit to
Alejandro for working on the spring setup for the leg design.
We have still yet to choose the flight profile option we want to go
with, and time is running short w/ the PDR due Nov. 19th. Last meeting
was good because now we are all familiar with the advantages and
disadvantages of both options. So, at the next meeting, we will
discuss these flight profile options again and then make our final
decision on which option to go for. Then from there we can quit the
debate and start designing around our chosen payload.
The next meeting will be next Tuesday, November 9th, at 7:20 in MAE-
B229. Again, everyone is invited, but this will mostly concern the
Structures and Electronics Group. For Alejandro and the two guys who
worked on the leg design, keep up the good work with decreasing the
size, weight, and complexity, and adding shocks and the slide-out leg.
If you 3 could email me we can communicate on the status of this
design.
For the stability group and propulsions group, as soon as we figure
out a flight profile option for the rocket, you guys will start
optimizing the size/shape and motor choice of the rocket depending on
the size/weight of the payload design.
Lastly, we plan on two educational engagements after Thanksgiving. 1
will be with a local middle school in the morning of Tuesday, Nov.
30th, most likely and the 2nd will be with an elementary school that
Thursday, Dec. 4th, in the morning also. We will do a little
presentation to the students and then launch a couple of water rockets
and model rockets on a nearby field.
See you next week!
