Happy Wednesday Green Teamers!
It’s that time of year when we have the chance to think outside the (gift) box and choose to buy less and give more. To start, you can try buying your gifts from smaller, local shops and from artisans in our community. To go further, consider giving gifts that encourage less consumerism and offer your time and skills instead. To make it easy, there’s a few upcoming events and ideas that you might want to check out:
For some local gift giving options, swing by the
Repurpose Project’s Green Gift Fair (519 S Main St, Downtown Gainesville) this
Friday, December 6, during Art Walk from 6-10PM. There will be holiday decorations, green gifts, silent auction, green gift wrapping, hot apple cider, pictures with Sustainable Santa & complementary gifts.
If you aren’t ready to buy local until next payday, try the
4th Annual Winter Gift Fair at The Jones B-side (203 SW 2nd Avenue, Downtown Gainesville) on
Sunday, December 15, from 2-5PM where there will be local art, crafts, and edible goodies for your hard-earned dollar.
And if you’re looking for some creative ideas on how to bring even less shopping and more meaning into the season, check out The Center for a New American Dream’s Simply the Holidays campaign and take the pledge to adopt 5 actions for more joy and less stuff!
Best,
-M
