Happy Wednesday Green Teamers!

It’s a full day today with it being Campus Sustainability Day and all…
Recognized by AASHE, Campus Sustainability Day is “a time to recognize the successes, challenges, and innovation of sustainability in higher education on each campus.”

At UF, we have a lot to celebrate and welcome you to join us for any and all the events happening today!

First up, One Less Car Day!  As you know, we’ll be out on the Plaza of the Americas between 11AM-2PM today with crafts, giveaways, a photo booth, and a chance to talk about sustainable transportation around campus and the community.  We are excited to say that we have had over 700 signups from around campus this year!

As mentioned at our last captain’s meeting, we’d like to help you make your next campus event “certifiably” sustainable through our office.  To this end, our Sustainable Event Certification Workshop taking place tonight will be a great opportunity to help you green any regular events that you host, or a one-time event you have just started to plan.  Join us tonight in Rinker Hall room 220 from 5:15-6:30PM.

Finally, when you have worked up an appetite from all of this, Gator Dining will be holding an all-you-care-to-eat sustainability themed dining hall party from 6-8PM tonight at Gator Corner Dining Center for just $8.99 plus tax.  You can enjoy a special menu with items such as cheesy homemade pizza with campus-sourced UF sausage, crispy BLTs with campus-sourced UF bacon, and vegan tempeh tacos.  There will also be a chance to win Gator hoodies, dining dollars and organic chocolate and coffee.  Along with local vendors and campus organizations there will also be healthy food sampling and activities to promoting healthy eating and active living on campus.

So there you have it.  Come help us celebrate all the great work being done around campus from folks like you (shout out to Mark Robinson for organizing a One Less Car tabling last week at the Law School and signing up 69 folks!) and help us make every day Campus Sustainability Day!
