Hello Green Teamers!

I hope you’re all staying mostly dry out there today. We have a few announcements and events for you this week.

Support Gator Dining: UF has made round 3 of Peta2’s most vegan friendly college competition! Please continue to vote for UF by clicking this link: http://features.peta2.com/vegan-colleges-2014/. We have until Wednesday March 12th at 5 pm to cast our votes! Thanks for your vote and Go Gators!

ICBR Green Team Sustainability Fair: Wednesday, March 12, 10:00AM – 1:00PM, Cancer & Genetics Research Complex

The ICBR Green Team Coalition, the 2013 UF Green Team of the Year, invites you to join them at a Sustainability Fair. Learn how you can be involved with green efforts on and off campus.

·         Green vendors, like Florida Organic Growers, Keep Alachua County Beautiful, Gator Dining

·         Free bicycle helmets and fitting from the Pedestrian & Bicycling Safety Resource Center

·         Pledge to “turn over a new leaf” with Sustainable UF

Parking is limited. We encourage all attendants to ride the bus, bike or walk from campus. We look forward to seeing you there! RSVP and spread the word with the Facebook event.

Prairie Project Applications are due March 21

For those of you interested in developing new sustainability courses or new course materials, apply now for our two-day workshop in May! Learn more or apply at our website: http://sustainable.ufl.edu/topics/academics/curriculum-development-prairie-project/.

And last but not least, don’t forget to pledge to Turn Over a New Leaf and join our spring campaign! If everyone lived the lifestyle of the average American, we would need the resources of 4.6 planet Earths. By pledging to lower our ecological footprint in one of the largest areas of resource consumption – transportation, waste, energy, and food - we will be one step closer to lowering our global emissions. This spring, take one step toward a more sustainable life. Choose one resource area in which you’d like to make a change in your own life. If you’re not sure what area to focus on, you can get an idea of your footprint by taking the quiz at www.footprintnetwork.org.

Happy sustainable Spring Break!

Laurel
