Happy Friday Green Teamers,
Well, you
would have thought that it started a couple weeks ago with our heat and storms, but summer officially begins this week as the
summer solstice marks the longest day of the year. What will you do with all that extra daylight? How about turning off those
lights off at work for one, and remind your colleagues to do the same!
At home, maybe it’s time to start that garden, or to just relax and read some good books. If you need suggestions, here’s a
great summer reading list from the Center for a New American Dream.
Or how about taking a plunge in the pool of community service? Open to staff as well as faculty, students
and the community, Summer Plunge, presented by the UF Center for Leadership and Service
is a single-day service project where volunteers will branch out into various areas of Gainesville to participate in exciting service projects. Service projects will include working with animals, art and culture, youth development, elder care, environmental
issues, homelessness and housing, and much more. This year's Summer Plunge will be held on July 20th, 2013.
For more information and registration please visit our
Summer Plunge website.
Sustainably,
-M
