Hello Green Teamers! Some office news and announcements for you:

Welcome Allison Vitt, the new Outreach and Communications Coordinator for the Office of Sustainability!
Tomorrow, March 28, is Allison's first day at the Office. Allison has worked at UF for several years, and most recently served as the Director of Communications for the College of Health and Human Performance. We are excited to have filled this position, and for Allison to be joining the Sustainable UF team!

Employee Wellness Event

From March 31 through April 25, UF and UF Health will offer its benefits-eligible employees free screenings at locations throughout campus and at UF Health locations in Gainesville. Employees may participate in the event at any location, regardless of affiliation. The screenings are part of a month-long spring Employee Wellness Event, co-sponsored by the University of Florida and UF Health.

All benefits-eligible Academic Personnel, TEAMS and USPS employees—as well as graduate assistants on appointment, postdocs and residents covered under GatorCare—are encouraged to complete a free screening. Employees who do will have the opportunity to review their results with a wellness professional and receive a free SweetBerries boxed lunch.

Employees may register for a time and location of their choice online by visiting http://hr.ufl.edu/wellnessevent.

In addition, during the first and last weeks of the event, UF and UF Health experts will present workshops and demonstrations covering a range of topics including fitness, nutrition, emotional well-being, aging and more.  Employees are encouraged to “pick one window” to wellness and make one change to enhance their well-being. To view the schedule of workshops, which continues to be updated, please visit http://gatorcare.org/wellness/workshops.asp.

Campus Earth Day

Join the Office of Sustainability for UF's Campus Earth Day celebration on Friday, April 11 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on the Plaza of the Americas. There will be food, drinks, crafts, entertainment, Dr. Machen's State of Sustainability address, and our annual Champions for Change awards ceremony. Pledge to turn over a new leaf this year and make a difference in how you impact the environment. We hope to see you there!

Spring Greening Collection Day

Our annual collection day will fall on Wednesday, April 23. Help those in need AND go green by donating items for our annual collection drive. From 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., we will be collecting unwanted items at the O’Connell Center Parking Lot near Gate 1. This is a great opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to clean out their homes and offices at the end of the year. Please bring any unwanted personal hazardous and electronic waste, non-decaled University assets and IT equipment, school supplies, books, gently used clothing, and small household items to be donated for reuse and recycled. For more information, visit our website. Green Teams can collect materials from within the department over the next few weeks and bring them to the O’Connell Center parking lot on April 23.

Thank you,
Laurel
