Happy Thursday Green Teamers!

Just returning from AASHE this week to some almost fall-like weather, I am looking forward to sharing with everyone all the great sustainability ideas that were presented and discussed from other higher-ed institutions across the country.  While there, I was reminded of how important it is to have a great network of Green Teamers helping to move sustainability forward in the very creative and inspiring ways that you are all doing.

As for the recent google-group string of emails regarding building level energy consumption data and reduction strategies, I’d like to extend an invitation to any captains or co-captains out there who would like to discuss this idea in more depth, and to email me directly so we can begin to take some well-designed action in this area without overwhelming the new GT co-captain Dustin Stephany over at PPD (as Rob Robbins has already suggested).  I think this will lead to some great first steps in office and department-level sustainability consultations or “audits” for those Green Teams who would like to enact some energy reduction strategies.

I would also like to remind everyone that Superior Accomplishment Award nominations are open now and would encourage everyone out there to consider nominating anyone in your division for the relatively new categories of Community Service and Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace.  If you know of a particular staff person who has been inspiring others to make our communities more livable places or has been helping to foster a climate of inclusion on campus, please take a moment to make a nomination or two.

Thanks for all you do!

-M
