The "Master Programme in Advanced Optical Technologies" (MAOT) provides in-depth training in the fundamentals and applications of state-of-the-art optical technologies. The programme is highly interdisciplinary and brings together experts and knowledge from the fields of Engineering, Physics, Computer Science and Medicine. At MAOT students get this expertise from across the university in one integrated programme âˆ' practically unique in the field of optical technologies.
With a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in Engineering or Physics students are taught the fundamentals of optics and optical technologies and further applications of six main topics (with two as a major):

SAOT QUALIFICATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year the PhD programme SAOT provides up to five qualification scholarships for MAOT students who already hold a master's degree but study MAOT in order to deepen their knowledge in optical technologies and by that to qualify for a subsequent PhD at SAOT. Scholarship holders are obliged to work in a SAOT research group while studying MAOT. It is aimed that scholarship holders will get a PhD position after MAOT but depends on their performance during MAOT.
It is not possible to apply for the qualification scholarship before an applicant is admitted to MAOT. Each admitted applicant who meets the criteria of a first degree will be invited to apply for the qualification scholarship.
JOBS AS RESEARCH ASSISTANT
In some years it is possible that some students can be provided with a job as research assistant already before they have started their study. This depends on the annual availability of a budget for that and can be discussed after a decision about the admission to the programme.
OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS
Remark: Unfortunately it is not easy to find a scholarship in Germany for international students. Firstly, scholarships are not frequent in Germany in general. Secondly, most of the programmes require good German language skills.
