Hello all,
I got an email from Chris Braun, who is running Liu sifu's
organization here, and also had some very nice conversations with
Sifu about training, the year ahead, and so on. The pandemic has
certainly put a crimp in our practice. As I noted in my last
message, I really miss training with you all and look forward to
getting together before too long to resume our practice.
It looks like 2021 will be a good building year. Time for us to
reengage with and improve our jibegong (basic movements) and
forms. Once the pandemic is under control, time for us to get back
into our conditioning, sensitivity, and application training. I
am, as I said looking forward to it.
To get started on that, I am thinking about a few things.
First, I am thinking it would be nice to get started with some
basic movement and kata training in March. That will be outside,
for an hour once a week or so. If people are interested, please
let me know so we can start getting a group and a schedule
together.
Second, I have been pretty reluctant to start on-line training.
Mostly because I don't have a good set up for it, or much extra
time these days. However, if people are interested we could look
at some Zoom based training sessions. Again, let me know what you
think.
Finally, I don't know if you have seen Chris' email or not.
Regardless, he is getting sifu's Feeding Crane organization here
in the US up and running again. I have attached the text of his
email below. The short version is that he and sifu would like
people to renew their memberships, and that he is going to be
running some on-line training for members. Take a look, and please
let me know if you have any questions. Membership is pretty
inexpensive, and will help bring sifu back once the pandemic is
gone, and support the Feeding Crane gathering we had to cancel due
to the pandemic and are now planning for 2022.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone, and to getting a little
more focused on our Feeding Crane training.
cheers,
Fred
Attached message:
Hello all,
If you are receiving this letter, then at
some point you were a member of Feeding Crane Kung Fu
International. What happened to the world last year with
Covid-19, many of us had to place our lives on hold. Many of us
had to stop training at our martial art schools that may have
caused them to close or move locations. I know that it was hard
on us here at Feeding Crane International. After years of
planning our first ever Feeding Crane Gathering, we had to make
the unfortunate decision to cancel the event. As of now, we are
looking towards having the event in 2022.
But onto some good news...Feeding Crane
International is BACK!
We are currently using 2021 as a
rebuilding year. We lost many of our students last year, which
is understandable. So we have used this time to changing with
the times and adapting to some of the ideas that people wanted
to see within our association. We have started with a new
website (
feedingcranekungfu.com) that has more information and a
bit more user friendly. Now its time to get back out members.
For those of you that are former Feeding
Crane members that had a FCKI membership number, we hope that
you will return to your association by renewing your
membership. Currently, new members will have to pay $40 for the
first year and then $30 for renewals. It doesn't matter if you
have been away for 1 year or 5 years, you will be a returning
member and it will only be $30 for you to rejoin. But, why
should you?
1. Members will receive 20% off all
FCKI official merchandize
2. Members will receive 20% off all FCKI
official events
3. Membership Certificate
4. FCKI patch (this year only or
with first time members)
5. FREE FEEDING CRANE ONLINE SEMINARS!!!
We are planning to host training videos for people that will be
released for a short time and open to members only. As of right
now we are planning on having 6 released this year.
6. You will receive quarterly
newsletters that will update you on what is happening.
7. Finally, you are showing your
support for Feeding Crane Kung Fu and belonging to a family of
martial arts that are here to help you train at home, at a
school, or both.
Ok, so now what? Well, contact us if you
have questions about joining or about what we are all about.
Next, go to our website
feedingcranekungfu.com and join or
fill out the paper and mail it back. Lastly, tell others.
This is most important because we cannot grow and become
stronger unless people join our group. Shifu Liu said that
he has given us the seed. Now its time to plant it and help
it grow.
Please feel free to reach out to me
if you have any questions. If you do choose to renew your FCKI
membership, you can do it online or by filling out the
membership application and mailing it back to us with your
payment.
On behalf of the Feeding Crane
International Representatives, and Shifu Liu
Chang-I, I hope that you consider rejoining the Feeding Crane
Family.
