Hi i have a early 2009 24inch Imac w/ 4gb and 2.9 processor, and for last month haven't been able to "Share/Export any videos out of Imovie, the problem started out of the blue after a video. (Im on Imovie 10.1.4)I play drums on Youtube and use Imovie for all my vids(youtube/drummerg2)
I would get the error message "apple.compressor.compressorkit.errordomain error"
I tried every fix online i came across, then I saw to try starting the Mac in Safe mode/ repair mode by holding the Shift key down once the computer started and now i CAN export/share from Imovie:)
So by simply starting Mac in safe mode fixed the issue. It took about 10 minutes for it to boot in safe mode so dont be in a hurry if you have a old mac .....Turn mac off, turn mac on when you see the Apple logo press and hold shift key until it boots up, then shut back down and turn back on and it should work. (I didnt start Imovie or anything once in safe mode)
Attempting to do as rriana suggested but when I try to move the Compressor folder I get a dialogue box that says "Copying 2 items to "Contents" and it sits there estimating time remaining (291 MB) and nothing happens, zero bytes transfer. Any other ideas to fix this error? I'm trying to export my movie as a file to the desktop from iMovie 10.0.9.
Add to this that my iTunes Match subscription just completely disappeared for me when Apple Music came out and my iPhone no longer hold a connection when trying to transfer photos from the phone to the computer in Image Capture, Photos, or Aperture on two computers, I'm left wondering what's going wrong with Apple's software lately. This is so disappointing. OS X is working more like Windows now. I used to have to reinstall Windows XP once a year because it had these kinds of problems.
Any other suggestions? I deleted iMovie and re-downloaded it but to no avail. I copied the compressor folder to another drive because when you drag it to the desktop it just creates an alias (shortcut) and doesn't copy the files. After copying to the external drive I deleted the Compressor folder. When I ran iMove it didn't just "fail" as the post above suggests, it showed no options under Share at all. They were just gone so no attempt could be made. So I quit iMovie, copied the Compressor folder back and the options to share reappear but the error persists.
Ugh. That seriously *****. I agree, lately it's like Apple doesn't even monitor the billions of bugs their software has and they just ignore the problems and create new ones. It's so infuriating these stupid random problems pop up out of the blue with no perceptible solution. I haven't "shared" any movies out of iMovie in probably a month. What would have changed since then to break iMovie??
They could not figure it out either but then in trying to capture data on my computer we went into Safe Boot mode and booting up in that took forever but after it was completed and booted back into regular mode iMovie worked.
I have been trying for hours now to export my imovie as a file onto my laptop and nothing seems to be working. I have gone through nearly every youtube video and website possible to find a solution. i have tried the safe boot multiple times and the disk utility thing apple recommended on there website. Nothing seems to be working, its driving me insane. Does anyone else have any other solutions to this?
Try upgrading or doing a fresh install of your OS, plus an updating of your iMovie app. That worked for one recent poster, who upgraded to Mojave and then updated to iMovie 10.1.14. Try just updating iMovie first.
I just realised i haven't updated imovie so i went to try update it and it just will not load and update like it should be. iv been watching the loading bar go round and round for about an hour now. Any solutions to this?
The update procedure is to your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Then sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see
I still couldn't figure it out so i ended up calling apple support and talking to a lovely lady on it. She talked me through everything and we ended up having to download the macOS mojave version. After this was completed i could then finally update my imovie and it now works.
I have tried to use compressor in the past and given up - many times. However today I wanted to "what's app" a video of my granddaughter but it was too large so thought I would compress it quickly using compressor. Two hours later I am tearing my hair out because I keep getting the same message no matter what I do. 'THE JOB DOES NOT HAVE ANY OUTPUTS' I have You Tubed the problem and followed other instructions but I am getting nowhere. I have set up a folder for the destination, I have dropped in the settings from the video sharing services dropdown - HD 1080p. I have also tried best compatibility for apple devices in the dropdown menu. Every time it all looks good in the inspector and I have reistalled and reset everything many times but when I hit 'start batch' I get the same error message that the job has no outputs. what does that mean exactly.? What outputs am `I supposed to change or fill in.? Where is the outputs window or button or list ? Why are the outputs being referred to, not showing up, or even giving me a clue.? It's driving me mad and I have wasted my whole afternoon getting nowhere on this. Can someone give me any clarification. Apple really need to simplify this programme. It's no wonder I only ever come back to it again long after the pain of trying to use has subsided from my memory. Maybe one day I will figure it out and make some use of it but right now it's as helpful as a sick headache. Many Thanks BRIAN.
Thank you Tom for your help, however somehow I seemed to have clicked on a setting which resolved the problem. Not sure how but I think it was something to do with selecting the destination folder which although already entered needed the same information in another box as well.
