What: Complex Humanitarian Emergency Training

UCSF Global Health Sciences is offering a full-day experiential learning program for trainees to develop skills, including leadership and teamwork, for global health emergencies. Participants will develop skills in these areas:
• Leadership and team building for crisis situations
• Rapid assessment skills such as mortality rates, basic water and shelter assessments
• Design of an implementation plan, monitoring plan, budget and transition/exit strategy
• Basic emergency medical care/triage in resource-scarce settings
• Presenting to and interacting with the media
• Ensuring personal safety and navigating security situations
• Understanding of the Geneva Convention
• Public health interventions in crisis situations including water, food and sanitation plans based on the SPHERE standards
