Hi everyone,
Quick reminder that this week's Careers in Global Health elective will be WEDNESDAY instead of Monday, in S-214 to accommodate the schedule of our out-of-town speaker, Dr. Leana Wen. Her bio is below - she will also have copies of her book to sign and sell to those who are interested. See you on Wednesday!
Cheers,
Michelle, Jenn, and Jay
Dr. Wen is a senior emergency medicine resident at
Harvard and Brigham & Women's and Mass General
Hospitals and former AMSA
National President ('05-'06). As a former Rhodes scholar, fellow with the WHO,
and consultant to the Brooking Institution and China Medical Board, she has
expertise in national and international health policy. This year, she is
publishing her new book, When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and
Unnecessary Tests (St. Martin's Press,
Jan 2013), about what patients and doctors can do to improve communication and
transform healthcare. As part of the
book publicity tour, she is traveling around the U.S. in Jan-Mar to speak to medical
organizations and patient groups. As a former student organization leader and
now a teacher, she loves speaking with medical student groups, and is reaching
out to student groups in the areas she is visiting.
