Hi Guys,

So I volunteered to figure out a gift for Ellen and here are my ideas - I'd like your feedback:

Gift certificate for a massage
Gift certificate for her favorite restaurant
We'd each have to put in about $10 bucks for these two options

Bottle of wine or champagne with personalized label - the photo of us?
Chocolates
A collage of photos from over the last two years- I'd need all of you to send me photos you've taken...

Does anyone know her well enough to do a more specific gift - like a cookbook if she likes to cook, a bottle of liqueur if she likes something specific, a book she's interested in reading...

I'm also thinking of some personalized candy bars with the faculty's photos.. stay tuned :)

Thanks for all of the creative ideas, Eliza!

I recently heard someone say that Ellen lives in Sonoma, which might affect choices for restaurant or massage gift certificates...can anyone confirm that she lives in Sonoma?

Maybe we could ask Jerusalem or another faculty member if they can think of a gift that Ellen would really like...?

I know she loved gardening and is looking forward to spending more time in her garden. And yes, she lives up there somewhere- near Pilar.

Costco has lots of gardening stuff right now.  We can put together a basket of gardening related goodies.

My guess is that she a;ready has most of her gardening stuff...but maybe a gift certificate to a local (Sonoma) nursery or something?

Something tells me she'd appreciate wine.

Don't mean to be a costco pusher.....but they have great wine (local, domestic and international) and gift card selections!  Including Peet's $100 gift card for $80 if y'all want to go coffee route.

If needed, I'm happy to pick it up.  I go to the one near my house frequently.

My vote is for Corinne's idea re nursery certificate.

I can handle it from here :) Thanks.

Can you all tell me if you'd be willing to put in $10 for this? and if not how much?

Thanks,
Eliza

I was under the impression we were going to put in $25 each and that was going to be distributed for all the various gifts/costs?

Hi!

Depending on how much we need for Ellen's gift (and if we are buying any other gifts), we will likely need less than $25 each, since the photo thank-you cards I ordered for all the FNP faculty (with extras for staff like Tanya and Jeff Kilmer) was $25 (total) because I found a great coupon! So the costs ended up being less than we initially expected for those.

Thanks all!

From our mtg, I recall an estimated $25 contribution per person (sliding scale) for all gifts, favors, etc.  Personally, $20-25 is the most I would want to spend.  With contributions from approx 25 people, that would be around $500-$600.

Would this be a part of that?  If so, I'm ok with however you and Jennifer B budget out the various gifts.

Thanks for doing this!

I would suggest that our gift to Ellen be less than $200...I think more than $200 might make her feel uncomfortable...

Alright people, I've been on contact with Ellen's sig other and gotten some insider info on her favorite stuff.

This is what I think I'm gonna do:
Gift certificate to a restaurant they've been waning to try $100, plus
Gift certificate to favorite gardening store in her home town $50
Total $ towards Ellen's gift: $150.
Happy Ellen: Priceless.

Any objections?

Hey All,

Who's collecting the ~$25 for the party/gifts? When/where to paying that person??

Good thinking. We should start bringing $$ next week so people have flexibility in bringing it in. Any takers? I would do it, but I'll be outta town next week, so wouldn't  be able to collect until June 5.

Eliza, do you and Jen have a final cost for the gifts (and per person amt)?  I recall one of you saying it will be less than anticipated.

Perhaps we can give $ directly to one of you?

I'm happy to collect the money if no one else wants to job.  I will bring a bunch of envelopes to class next week, and people can include their funds and write their name on the outside.  Cash is probably easiest but check is okay too.

It would be helpful if we had a breakdown of the costs, so we can collect the correct amount.  I think we will need to get everyone's money next week, so let me know if you won't be in class and we can make other arrangements.

That would be very helpful - thanks hayley! The gift team and food team are in touch about costs and we will let everyone know soon what we need for contributions.

Thanks!
