Hi!
I applied as soon as possible for my NP license, and received it by the end of July. Instead of waiting for the BRN to mail something (which took a few extra weeks), I obsessively checked the
BRN website that lists NP licenses for my name (and license number) to show up. My job was waiting for these things, so it was helpful to get it as soon as possible.
The real trick, though, is to apply for your furnishing license at the same time you apply for your NP license. Some savvy classmates did this (I didn't!) and their furnishing licenses showed up much more quickly, maybe even in late July.
When the furnishing license application asks for your NP number, you can apparently write "in process" and the BRN will then process the 2 applications together. I submitted my furnishing license application as soon as I got my NP number (late July) and I think the furnishing license took another 2 months to process! This was sort of miserable because I was working and constantly using prescription pads from other providers. So definitely apply for them concurrently!
[Feel free to forward this info to the rest of your NP class...as of last year, the faculty weren't very familiar with this process and didn't know that you could apply for the NP license and furnishing license at the same time]
Hope this helps!
