Thanks to all who attended the University Row Kick-off Party! This event was a great way to meet the other alumni leaders from the universities that will be represented at this year's University Row.

 

As discussed at the retreat, University Row is the first all-UC alumni event of the year and it is my hope that all of the UC campuses will be represented at our tent. Cal, UCLA and UC Davis are co-anchoring the double-wide tent so the remaining UC campuses will only have to sign on as a partner school. As a partner school, there is no financial obligation to you or your club; instead we will rely on you to help promote the event and ticket sales to your club members as well as possibly provide volunteers.

 

Tickets will go on sale in just a few short weeks and we need to have partner agreements returned ASAP so that we can include all of the UC campuses in printed materials (including the keepsake, beloved cups!). Besides the three co-anchor UCs, I believe only two campuses have returned your signed partner agreements. Many of you signed last year's agreement so you know first-hand that there aren't any financial and/or legal liabilities to you. Therefore, can you please read, sign and return the partner agreements to me so that I can give them to the committee? If you would like to speak privately about this, please feel free to email me anytime. I will be in CA all week but you are welcome to contact me via cell at 202-640-3271.

John Valva, Charles and I had a post-retreat meeting yesterday and aim to send you follow-up retreat materials within the next two weeks. In the meantime, I wanted to remind you all about tomorrow’s University Row Kick-off party that will begin at 7pm at The Arts Club of Washington, which is located at 2017 I St. NW. The party will begin with a 7pm meeting, followed by the actual party. If you can, try to arrive a few minutes before 7pm so that we can start the meeting on time.

 

As agreed at Saturday’s retreat, University Row is our first all-UC event for 2013 and attending the kick-off party is an excellent way for you to learn more about University Row (for those who didn’t attend last year) as well as to meet/network with other alumni leaders from the 70+ universities that participated last year. Remember, as partner schools for the UC tent you do not have a financial obligation but will still be relied upon to help promote the event and ticket sales to your respective alumni club members. Additionally, we may need a couple of people from your alumni clubs to volunteer for the event which makes it even more enjoyable for them because they are contributing to the Row’s success!

 

I have attached a copy of the Partner Agreement for you to review that every partner UC campus will have to sign (Cal, UCLA and UC Davis will be co-anchoring the double-wide tent), and it would be ideal if all UC Partner Agreements can be signed and returned at tomorrow’s party.

 

We want to make sure to represent the west coast and UC system this year at University Row by being the first tent to sell-out when tickets go on sale this month. Speaking of ticket sales, please start promoting the event with you various alumni clubs through Facebook, emails, etc. We are happy to provide a template for you to use if you don’t know how to promote it properly. I highly, highly encourage every single one of you to attend tomorrow night’s kick-off party and please be sure to RSVP so that you can get your drink ticket. At the very least I hope that each UC campus will be represented tomorrow night.
