Regents' Professors and Lecturers Program

The Committee on Regents' Professors and Lecturers is soliciting
nominations for the 1997-98 academic year. The program has limited
funding for stipends and travel only. Sponsoring units should be
prepared to cover other expenses such as housing, transportation, etc.,
during the individual's visit to campus.
The Regents' Professors and Lecturers Program was established to
bring distinguished men and women to the University, ordinarily from
non-academic careers, who through their contact with students and faculty
may add breadth to the educational experience of students and otherwise
enrich university life. Regents' Lecturer appointments may be for two
weeks or more, but less than a full quarter. Regents' Professors may
serve for a quarter and the individual may be assigned a course to teach.
Regents' Professors and Lecturers are expected to live in the vicinity
of the campus and be available for seminars, colloquia and informal
consultation with students and faculty, and may participate in instruction
of courses given for credit. Please refer to APM 290 for full information
on this program.
Nominations should originate from academic units rather than individuals
and should provide detailed information on how the nominee would
be utilized to enhance unit programs, as well as how he or she would
relate to other academic programs. Information should also be provided
regarding stipend and travel expenses. Nominations should be forwarded
to the appropriate divisional dean for review and recommendation prior
to submission to the committee.
The deadline for submission of nominations to the Committee is February
28, 1997. Please submit nominations to the divisions in advance of
