Welcome to the UCSB-CSSA google mailing list. This mailing list is supported by Chinese Scholar and Student Association of University of California, Santa Barbara.
It is a moderated list to be used for public announcments as well as a forum for discussion and exchanges relevant to the CSSA members.
UCSB-CSSA mailing list is an open forum, and participants should feel comfortable commenting without fear of recrimination or harassment of any kind, whether from list members or others, whether by public or private communication.

The following uses of UCSB-CSSA mailing list are NOT appropriate:

-Selling or advertising commercial products or services
-Sending personal messages to an individual subscriber.
-Sending a message to tell someone to remove you from the list.
-Using the list to pass on or spam others with information not related to UCSB; this includes sharing humor, chain letters or other types of correspondence.

The list owners reserve the right to remove from UCSB-CSSA mailing list individuals who knowingly or repeatedly contravene the spirit and intent of the group as described in this section.

How do I configure my settings of this mailing list?

Log in to http://groups.google.com and find UCSB-CSSA. Click "My membership" and you can find a list of settings. After changing them, do not forget to save.

How to Leave the mailing list?

Log in to http://groups.google.com and find UCSB-CSSA. Click "My membership" and you can find a list of settings. Then click "Leave group".

Do I need to sign my messages?
YES. You should ALWAYS include a signature at the end of your message. At the very least you should type your first and last name. Optionally, you can provide your email address or other contact information.

What about privacy?
It is the policy of the owner/editor that by subscribing to the listserv you make your email address public and available to other UCSB-CSSA mailing list subscribers who wish to contact you individually. However, the address of individual subscribers are concealed from all subscribers to mailing list except from the owner/editor. The list owners have taken this precaution to reduce the likelihood that the subscription list will be “harvested?by someone who wants to send mass junk e-mail.

Miscellaneous important reminders.

-Never send a message that says (in effect) "Me too" If someone asks for information that you also are interested in, sit back and wait for it to be posted to the list.
-Never send an attachment to the list or use your forward key from an email which will place it as an attachment to the next viewer. It will not be seen by UCSB-CSSA mailing list subscribers.
