Software Based Testbed

Hi,

I am interested in wireless testbed design. I am a newbie in this
sector. Would you let me know whether it would be possible to
implement software based testbed? For example, is it possible to put
802.11 driver/software in a PC and use GNU radio to emulate the
wireless media for that 802.11 MAC layer so that their combination can
act as a Node in wireless network?

I have studied your testbed and found that there is USRP GNU radio
integrated with the node. Would you tell me what the purpose of this
software radio is? What types of works can be performed using this
option?
