Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am pleased to be able to invite you to "Long Story Shorts," the first annual festival of ten-minute plays, written by students in the Writing for the Screen and Stage Program, a two year dramatic writing minor in the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Department of Communication Studies. This is a family affair with ninety-five percent of those involved, representing UNC faculty, staff, students and alumni.
The festival was created to afford Writing for the Screen and Stage students the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with experienced directors, designers and actors. The result, a professionally produced evening of their work, will be presented on the UNC campus at Swain Hall, Studio 6 (corner of Cameron and Columbia Streets) from Thursday, October 6th through Sunday, October 9th. Showtimes are at 8PM from Thursday through Saturday and 3PM on Sunday. Admission is free. Seating will be provided at the door. Parking is generally available next door in the Swain lot. If there are competing events and the lot is full or closed, please use the two parking garages near the corner of Columbia and Rosemary Streets.
The plays presented range from serious drama to quirky comedy and represent a variety of styles and perspectives. The students have worked diligently in preparation for this opportunity and are excited to see their plays coming to life. Please do join them.
Best,
Dana Coen
