IMPORTANT NOTICE: OUR MUSIC PROGRAM HAS AN OPENING for Co-Director/Coordinator! 
Thank you, Marilyn Grubbs, for all your service & coordination of our Music Program!  Marilyn is stepping down from this position @ the end of the month.  Now, we are letting everyone know of this great opportunity to join our spiritual staff here @ UCP, by becoming one of our Music Co-Directors, alongside Mark Malachi.  The work involves a few hours each week, to coordinate & invite area musicians to perform here on Sundays.  We have an extensive music library here already.  There is a stipend for the work.  If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact Rev. Each Tuesday @ UCP is a different form of expression & spiritual practice, including Men's Singing Group (1st Tues), Unity Joyful Arts Ministry - JAM (2nd Tues), Interfaith Chanting (3rd Tues), Dances of Universal Peace (4th Tues), and Community Spiritual Practices Night (5th Tues).

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18th: A Course in Miracles: 7:00-8:30pm, in the Chapel, weekly.  This ACIM group is co-led by Janie Imperial (harps...@yahoo.com) and Jean Fisher (arealhi...@gmail.com).  Having ACIM two nights a week gives you a greater opportunity to keep up!  Join us!

IV. LOVE IN ACTION @ UCP :
This is how we actually LIVE into these Unity Principles we promote.  You are cordially invited to add service to your life; you will be blessed in myriad ways!

CLEANING MINISTRY: 
We are keeping this sacred space cleaned weekly: by a paid service provider twice a month (many thanks goes to Judy Greggar for her many years of service!), & by volunteers the rest of the time (thank you, Gail Gailer!).  There are still openings for the volunteer; check the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the kitchen to see the available slots. 

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: 
We are providing food for our local Food Bank.  Please contact the office if you feel called to steward this great service.  Every Sunday is a great day to feed the hungry!!

YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY: 
Our YFM program is growing!  Thanks to all the adult volunteers who are serving as Assistants to the Coordinator!  We have a few Sundays with openings for adult volunteers to serve as Assistant.  Would you like to have fun sharing Life & learning opportunities with some amazing, wonderful, fun, funny, & wise-beyond-their-years children?

USHER/GREETERS:

These are the folks who record the Sunday Service, who get paid to help out with workshops & concerts requiring Sound.  If this sounds like something you'd like to do, please contact Mark Smith: mgee...@juno.com.  Training is a snap!

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES TEAM: 
What spiritual practices are you engaged in?  Would you like to share these w/others @ UCP?  Contact the office if yes!  Meanwhile, the Chapel is open every Sunday for time in the Quiet. 

OUTREACH/MARKETING TEAM: 
Check out our new Facebook page, & keep an eye out for our new & revised website!  We have contacted IFC & are planning setting up volunteer times @ the shelters in town.  If you are called to any of these practices, contact the office.

ABUNDANT LIFE TEAM: 
This group is all about living our conscious abundance, through community & fund-raising events.  If you have some good ideas for events, contact the office!

V. ETC. NEWSY BITS:

Opportunity to be of ServiceWe can help make a young man's journey a little less difficult.  If you have time to teach someone how to drive a car, if you know of a vehicle to donate (or help raise money to purchase one), raising money as well for rent (he currently is almost homeless), help him with finding a job.  He has been to McDonald’s, Burger King, etc., to find employment.  This young man (20 years old) could use support to help him get on his feet.  If you would like to help in some way, please contact Susan Chandler (Director of Social and Volunteer Opportunities @ The Arc of Orange County): 919-942-5119, extension 111 or scha...@arcoforange.org.

 
Stillhouse Bottom Band performing on WUNC's Back Porch Music: THIS Friday, August 13th, 6:00 to 8:00pm, American Tobacco Warehouse, Durham. AC Bushnell's band is described as an old-time band, playing acoustic music with deep roots in rural NC tradition.  They also mix in some bluegrass, classic country, pop, & jazz.  The band has been included in WUNC's "Best of Back Porch".  This is a FREE show-- outside at the American Tobacco Warehouse Campus near the ballpark in downtown Durham.

As always, you are invited & most welcome to spend some cool time in the quiet (if you wish) here, or just come to hang out in the office!  Office hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10:00am-4:00pm.  The grounds around this beautiful space are always available to you; the hiking trails are famous locally!  The Sanctuary & Chapel are available to you during office hours anytime, as long as there's no scheduled program going on.
