السلام عليكم
I hope you are all doing fine with exams! Anyways, I just wanted to give a few quick updates.
Bake Sale
Tuesday, March 5, we will have a bake sale for the MSA from noon to 5pm at the library main entrance. Make sure to stop by to either help out or buy some baked goods!
Islam Awareness Dinner: "The Meaning of Life"
We have the date and time for the awareness dinner for this semester finalized: it will be on Thursday, March 14, at 7pm in the South Commons Rome Ballroom. Come and bring some Muslim and non-Muslim friends to learn about the meaning of life from an Islamic perspective while eating free catered food! Click here to see the Facebook event page for more details. Flyer is attached to the email.
Da'wah Workshop
Make sure you join the UConn MSA for their first Dawah Workshop of the semester! It will be held in the Student Union, room 318 from 5:00PM to 6:15PM.
Da'wah is to convey the message of Islam to all, whether by mentioning small sayings of the Prophet or by having conversations about Islam with others with the goal of increasing awareness about the religion.
The purpose of Da'wah is NOT to convert! Although non-Muslims are fully welcomed to join Islam, Muslims are NEVER supposed to aim to convert anyone because they believe guidance is in the hands of God and that our job is simply to make others aware of the religion so they know that it is there and what it is.
The reason there are all these misconceptions about Islam today is that no one knows what Islam is. Why? Because none of us talk about it to others! So join us to learn how to convey the real message of Islam--not just for Da'wah table, but for life!
That's all for now.
Salaam,
Ammad
MSA Secretary
