السلام عليكم

Welcome to the Muslim Student Association!

Below you will find an overview for what's coming up soon.

General Body Meeting
We will be having our first general body meeting on Thursday, September 13 at 6:30 PM in the Islamic Center of UConn (ICUC, the masjid). Be sure to come and introduce yourself! You'll get an overview of what the MSA is about, what our goals are, and what we have planned for the upcoming semester.

Yasmin Mogahed At UConn
This is our first big event for the year! We have one of the best female Islamic speakers in the U.S. coming to UConn for a sisters-only event at 11:30 AM at the ICUC on Sunday, September 30. The lecture will be called Saving the Heart for God. Both Muslims and non-Muslims are welcome! For more information, feel free to refer to the Facebook event page here.

If you would like to order a signed copy of Yasmin's book Reclaim Your Heart, please fill out the book order form.

Halaqah
The brothers will be having weekly Halaqah at the ICUC every Thursday from 8:15 pm to 9:15 pm, and the sisters will have theirs each Tuesday from 5-6 PM in the sister's room downstairs in the Masjid. For those of you who do not know what this is, this is essentially a Quran reading circle in which each person recites a few verses (if you don't want to, you don't have to) and has his or her recitation corrected. Even if you do not want to read, you should come to learn about the explanation of the verses read and the lessons taught in them.

Da'wah Table
The Da'wah table is a table run by the MSA outside the library each Wednesday from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (starting this Wednesday) with the goal of conveying the message of Islam, clearing up people's misconceptions of Islam, and answering any Islamic questions that Muslims and non-Muslims may have. Feel free to join us at the table to either learn something or help out! Brother Adeel Kadeer will be the Da'wah Chair/Coordinator this year.

That's about it for now! Stay tuned for upcoming updates and events.

Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and check out our website, where you will find info on the MSA, board members, where the masjid is, prayer timings at the masjid, and more!

We are open to questions and suggestions at any time. Simply e-mail us at ucon...@gmail.com.

Salam,

Ammad Shaikh
Secretary of the MSA
