laptops I decided to move linux from a toshiba toughbook to a getac..s400 . problem is that the getac has *(both) have no sata adapter cable thta works ,,, os I have a 13 in one linux 64g linux try and install from amazon.

went though many popular distors, non but opensusue set up to boot on a 128 PNY nano that worked.. The catch was the first update of leaf 15.5 broke the wifi set u-... taht tiik fours to set it up at home .. well I installed garuda 2030.10 and got to work in 30  min all updates was smooth

I use the local lib to get in to the comminity and d/l stuff incuiding old os and tools from archive.org, what was cool that the wget has resume broken I never seen. The opther netbook is  a HP that on mint cin.

Thanks, Yancy, I'd never heard of Garuda Linux. Arch-based, but the
thing I love best is that it uses btrfs for the filesystem!!! :^)

fedora also defaults to btrfs at least since fedora 37 ...
you have to select the custom option when formatting the disks to get anything else.

I can confirm this personally as I've been using Fedora for the last few years.  btrfs has been great, but I really wish I could clone a partition / disk using it and expect it to mount correctly afterwards. 


Anybody know of some other way to accomplish this (other than using partclone)....?

I used Garuda Linux for a while back and liked it very much. But, I'm using MX Linux 23.2 as my daily driver these days and have for several months.

I work with a guy here in Greenville that does some work on the Garuda project if i remember correctly. I’ve been trying to get him to connect with UCLUG but he’s busy raising 2 kids with his wife. At least his priorities are right!

I am going back to Ubuntu as fears

 garudalinux is bit hard to even get libreoffice on… and the snapshots work but I tried a Update  and never like to got the desktop back…
