Rustdesk login

Recently, Rustdesk stopped allowing anonymous usage, saying you have
to log in. I try to log in using my google account, but when I click
login , it opens up a blank text editor window and just sits there.
Behind that window, it just says "Waiting account auth" and eventually
times out. If I log in to actual gmail, I get a 2FA on my phone, but
nothing like that comes up with rustdesk. Has anyone had any luck
with this?

They say the preferred usage is to self-host your rustdesk, but
somehow I'm missing some understanding of what I need to do to make
that happen.
