UCLUG,

I recently purchased a 2023 Lenovo Thinkpad E490, intended to replace my
aging laptop, and would appreciate (dis)recommendations for setup.

Does anyone currently multiboot?
How did you learn to set it up?
What problems have you had with linux and NVME resident Window-11?
How can these problems be avoided?
Has anyone removed a Windows-11 builtin NVME?
Did you have trouble with linux after removing Windows-11?
Do you have session timeout configured to hibernate or sleep?
Any (dis)recommendations?

My target is
multiboot openSuSE Leap 15.6 + Mint 22.1 + Windows-11
apache2 local web server
moinmoin local wiki server
postfix mail server
h264 and other codecs
ability to resume from ram and/or disk (i.e. sleep and hibernate)

The machine was sold with Windows-11 on builtin NVME and discrete
TPM-2.0 . The seller installed 1.8T SSD with Mint-22.1

Progress so far:
I have installed dual boot in prior decades but each time have had to
learn and workaround setup limitations. (After a day of successful Mint
Use, Windows-11 boot already corrupted the Mint partition once)

I installed openSuSE, changed the boot order, and have subsequently dual
booted both Windows-11 and openSuSE.
I have not yet physically removed the NVME with Windows-11, but am quite
willing to consider that.

At this time, when openSuSE session times out, it is "energy saving"
configured to sleep (save to ram) or hibernate (save to swap partition).
Unfortunately openSuSE fails to reliably wake from sleep or hibernate,
but (though very inconvenient) will reboots.
To fix sleep/hibernation problem, I have been advised, but not yet
tried, to disable secure boot, load openSuSE, then enable secure boot.
Any (dis)recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers to known solutions.
