Not sure if the same method is needed but I've got a couple HP Chromebox gen 1s which I've got fedora running on one and batocera ( retro arcade distro) 

I had to open them and remove a screw from the motherboard to enable flashing a different bios so I could install Linux

Yeah I've got an Asus flip book with about the same specs. It does have a extra sd card slot so I've added a 128gb sd card to it. Runs batocera great, turned it into an on the go arcade machine
