Hey, y'all!
At next month's December meeting, we're going to have a short talk on 'nb', which is a note-taking app. Since it's short, and I've been curious about the various note-taking apps, especially the ones that use Markdown, I thought we could have a note-taking app "shootout". That is, short demos of each one and from that, we can compare them.
- nb: As I mentioned, I've already got this lined up. Andrew Lechowicz agreed to show us 'nb', it looks really powerful and has a lot of features, including multiple languages (Markdown, reStructuredText, AsciiDoc, etc)
-
remarkjs.com: At the Nov meeting, 'eric' agreed to do this one. I wasn't vigilant, and didn't get 'eric's contact info, so if you see this, Eric, please reply.
- Obsidian: Tim Fowler said he might be able to give a talk on Obsidian, and he might send a video of this talk if not in person.
Others I'd like to see:
- Joplin
- Zim
There are probably others that I'm not aware of. If you know one of the ones above or anything similar, please consider giving a 15 minute demo on Dec 14 at 18:30?
If you're curious, my motivation is to get away from using Google Keep for my notes and Trello for my workflow. I'd like something open source and a way to have local files in plaintext so that I can add them to a git repository. I discovered that Obsidian has a Kanban plugin, so it's currently the front-runner, with nb and Joplin right behind. I haven't actually tried any of them yet, so I can't give demos just yet, but if I do before the meeting, I will.
