Hello UCLUG Luggers,

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be a video uploaded or a link to the video provided of tonight's Jitsi Meeting? I would like to review the slides that Dr. Meier presented in that meeting. I thought the meeting and presentation were extremely well done.

I was apparently having sound issues since I tried to speak a couple of times (yes, I checked to see if I was muted) and no one could hear me. The point that I wanted to make regarding the MAC Access List on the Raspberry Pi WiFi Router/Repeater in conjunction with DHCP and the fact that MAC addresses are easily cloned or spoofed is that although DHCP uses MAC addresses as part of its process in handing out local IP addresses on the LAN, the fact that MAC addresses can be spoofed or cloned practically eliminates the security one thinks they have in place by limiting only specific MAC addresses to be able to access the LAN. This list is known as the MAC Access List. Not a good security "best practice" any longer.

The RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-in User Service) Server concept is the way to go as an alternative to using the MAC Access List. However, due to the fact that it is difficult to implement, it is typically reserved for Enterprise usage only.

Hope to see everyone next month when I plan to present my password manager of choice, Roboform, at the meeting.
