Dear all,
First of all, very sorry for lack of contact. Since everyone's been so busy with exams (setting, taking, marking, fretting over) we've cooled it on wednesdays until the new term in September. But to sustain makespacers over the summer, we'll have some one-off events - bigger than we can do in an evening. Here's some things that our guys are doing that we'd love to see you at and things we're considering doing - let us know if you're interested!
Zoe and Mark at Cheltenham science festival, 12th - 17th June
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheltenham Science Festival
http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/science has a whole load of things going on, including displays, talks, films, hands on activities, and Zoe and Mark! We thought people might like to meet up and have a day/afternoon out there: M&Z are happy to give a guided tour for an hour or so. Can interested parties fill in the doodle poll here:

Mark Miodownik is in the BBC Science Zone on Saturday for 'Materials: how do they work?', and causing a buzz around the science of honey on friday.
Zoe Laughlin is down in the week for more making activities.
Casting (it will really happen!) at the Wellcome Elements event, 22nd June
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoe and Martin from the Institute of Making are offering visitors to this evening event, free and open to all, the chance to cast tin. If you missed pewter casting with us, catch it here: and there's some other great things going on too, including making a silver photogram!

How to invent a material - July
-------------------------------------------
For those who were wondering about how makespace things tie in to academic research, How To Make a Material will be a day long event with lectures about material science in the morning, and opportunities to make our own in the afternoon.. we're searching for a space at the moment, but this will be in the week commencing 11th July..
August will be tricky due to Olympics and heat and absence, but we're looking into getting people together in small groups for masterclasses in things like blacksmithing.. let us know if you're interested in this.
Septembe we though an outside day of making all different kinds of things, would people be interested in a Saturday?
And then in the new term, we'll be doing things every wednesday: if there's stuff you'd like to do or to teach let us know and we'll schedule you a slot.
Yours,
Scary
