Hi all

I’d like to propose the attached to National Campaign Against Fees & Cuts conference, which means it needs approval from UCL Defend Education before 5pm Wednesday. There is a suggestion that we caucus to discuss the conference, and motions, tomorrow evening (Monday) so I will bring this to that, but in the mean time I am circulating this so people can take a look and offer comments.

The proposal is to adopt a “charter” of core political goals in relation to education, as a unifying statement of principles. I think this is needed to define the NCAFC more clearly and because the NUS has miserably failed to put forward clear beliefs. It also means we have something to point to as an overarching goal through the ups and downs and temporary battles of the movement. If you believe the statement is missing something, please do say. I think the short pre-amble could be a little weak – I’ve attempted to cover some very general ideas while doing my best to avoid ornate/inaccessible language, but I’m not the best writer, so any comments there particularly welcome.
