Understanding Stock Options
John Villasenor
4 PM Wednesday, June 4
Eng. IV, Rm 54-134
New engineering graduates often join technology-sector companies offering a mix of cash and equity compensation. The cash component of a job offer is easy to value, but the equity component can be more difficult to understand. This talk will introduce concepts such as vesting schedule, strike price, exercise, common versus preferred shares, dilution, and some key differences between public and privately held companies with respect to options.
John Villasenor is a faculty member of the UCLA Electrical Engineering Department
