Dr. Armond Hairapetian's Bio:Dr. Armond Hairapetian is the President and
CEO of Starport Systems. In this role, he is responsible for guiding
the strategic direction of the company, business development and
day-to-day operations. Dr. Hairapetian brings more than 17 years of
semiconductor-industry experience to Starport, most recently as Sr.
Director and General Manager of Optical business for Broadcom
Corporation. Prior to its acquisition by Broadcom in 2000, he was the
co-founder, V.P. of Engineering and later the CEO of NewPort
Communications, Inc, the pioneer of 10Gigabit transceivers in CMOS.
Under Dr. Hairapetian's leadership, the optical business at Broadcom
became the leading supplier of 10Gigabit transceivers for optical
communications. Dr. Hairapetian previously worked for Rockwell's
Semiconductor Division in Newport Beach, CA, and Sierra Semiconductor
(PMC-Sierra) San Jose, C
A as a senior Analog/Mixed-Signal design
engineer.
In 2004,
Hairapetian joined Miramar Venture Partners to help fund and build innovative
start-up companies in Southern California
specializing in solid state devices, semiconductors and medical devices.
Hairapetian is a named inventor in 25 US patents. Dr. Hairapetian received a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.--
