Dear Colleague:

The Colorado School of Mines' 8th Continent Project (8C) will award a zero-gravity flight and $50,000 in cash and services to the winner of the 2009 8C Business Plan Competition.

Would you please let students and faculty members know about this opportunity?

This annual competition challenges university students from around the world to collaborate in creating business plans that use space-derived technology to achieve immediate Earth-based applications.

The deadline for entries is Feb. 6, 2009.

Prizes for the winning team include $50,000 in cash and in-kind professional services, plus a flight for two in the Zero Gravity Corporation's aircraft. Final rounds will be held April 24-26, 2009 on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

For more information about submitting a proposal, please see the guidelines posted at http://www.8cproject.com/BusinessPlanCompetition.html.

Feel free to email or call me personally with questions about how to integrate the competition into your spring curriculum or offer extra credit for participation. The attached flyer can be printed and posted, or emailed to students and colleagues.

We are looking forward to your institution's participation!
