If you have been missing the isolate/unisolate selection command from
3ds max, I have created a macro and a toolbar that works exactly the
same way. If you have no idea what i am talking about, this is how it
works:
Select the objects you want to isolate for editing. Left click the
'isolate/ unisolate' toolbar button. The macro will hide everything
but your current selection and give the hidden objects a temporary
name. To 'unisolate', right click the toolbar button and the hidden
objects are shown again. The best thing about this is that it will
only show the objects hidden to isolate the object(s) you wanted to
work on. The objects previously hidden will remain hidden.
I have posted the toolbar on the files section of the group. To
install the toolbar, download the file to wherever you like. Open
rhino. Type 'toolbar'. Go to 'toolbar' drop-down menu and click
import. Select James_Isolate_Selection.tb click ok. Check the box
next to the Isolate/ Unisolate Selection item. The toolbar should
appear somewhere on your screen. It is a single icon that looks like
a lightbulb with a black and yellow box in the upper left corner.
Happy Rhino-ing.
