Good Evening AASM Members,
We have just updated our AASM Google Group roster and will be streamlining our communications moving forward by better utilizing this channel. Also, we had our monthly AASM Board meeting today where we covered a broad range of topics which I have highlighted
below.
Embracing Diversity Weekend - We really need everyone's help and participation this weekend with Anderson’s biggest diversity recruiting event of the year (November 23 and 24). This is our chance to help the Admissions office recruit more diverse
students into the Class of 2016. We also desperately need more Alumni involvement! Everyone please continue to reach out to Alumni when and where ever possible to help bump up that presence.
List of Individual Accomplishments - We are tabulating a list of all of our individual school related accomplishments so that we can communicate that information back to the Consortium. But, we would like to acknowledge everyone, Consortium member
or not, so please send a list of all of the great things you've done this year to Tia or myself, and we will publicize that info to the Consortium and the greater African American Anderson community.
AASM T-Shirts - Tia has done a phenomenal job at securing us some great looking shirts so that we can all represent with some sense solidarity, but those bad boy's ain't free. If you have already paid your AASM dues, then your shirt is taken care
of.
UCLA Undergrad Outreach - In our board meeting today we discussed the current state of affairs regarding African American students at UCLA (both within and outside of Anderson) and how we as a graduate community can help offer better insight and
direction to the undergrad African American community. We discussed creating panel and lunch events where we can give these groups guidance on evaluating their options and understanding how to best navigate through the business world. Additional details
will be sent to everyone in the coming weeks. Christine Russell also referenced these resources for use to utilize in our future efforts.
That's all for now, but please let us know if there are any additional questions or concerns that cover any and all AASM topics. Also, please fill free to provide us with any suggestions regarding events or how you would like to see our organization improve
as we move into the Winter quarter..
Thank you again,
Calvin and Tia
