Dr. Tan Nguyen wanted to relay this message to the MS4's:
"Dear colleagues,
This is an invitation to be part of a 90-minute online focus group about how students decide to choose family medicine or not as their specialty choice. We are particularly interested in hearing from 4th year medical students from a variety of medical schools, both planning and not planning to match into Family Medicine.
We are a team of medical students and residents from across the US who are working to gain insight into student’s specialty choice of family medicine and primary care. Our team is part of the Family Medicine for America’s Health collaboration, which is working to demonstrate the value of primary care and address the shortage of primary care physicians in the US. (For more information about Family Medicine for America’s Health, please visit fmahealth.org.) We are offering a $10 Amazon gift card to anyone who participates for the full 90 minute session!
Our team’s goal for these focus groups is to specifically look at medical schools that have the highest match rate for family medicine (referred to as the “top 10 schools”) and see if there is a significant difference compared to other medical schools. The top 10 schools are:
University of North Dakota
University of Kansas
University of Minnesota
East Carolina University
University of Washington
Oregon Health and Science University
Florida State University
University of Missouri – Columbia
University of Wisconsin
University of California, Irvine
University of New Mexico
We are very interested in your experience and perspectives. We invite you to share your thoughts within the upcoming weeks.
Our focus groups will be conducted through an online webinar platform. The dates are as follows
January 23rd (Mon) from 8:30PM-10:00PM CST: Students entering Family Medicine from top 10 schools
January 26th (Thurs) from 8:30PM-10:00PM CST: Students not entering Family Medicine from top 10 schools
