Greetings,
We decided to rearrange the Algorithm & Theory Group schedule slightly
to accommodate the fact that we must be in HEC 356 next week. We're
going to continue our discussion of Chapter 11 from the "Introduction
to Probability" text, on Markov Chains:
Chap. 11, in
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~chance/teaching_aids/books_articles/probability_book/book.html
Following that, we'll take a two-week hiatus because of the session
break, then Gautham and Abdulluah go, in that order. Specifically,
the upcoming schedule so far is:
* Fri.25.Feb HEC 356 reading disc.: rest of Chap 11.
* Fri.4.Mar - Pre-BREAK, NO MEETING
* Fri.11.Mar - SPRING BREAK, NO MEETING
* Fri.18.Mar HEC 118 Gautham Anil (TBD)
* Fri.25.Mar HEC 118 Abdullah Al Mahmud (approximation algorithms?)
Left unscheduled so far are:
* Fri.1.Apr HEC 118 ??
* Fri.8.Apr HEC 118 ??
* Fri.15.Apr HEC 118 ??
* Fri.22.Apr HEC 118 ??
Finals begin April 26, so I guess we'll leave well enough alone after
April 22. I'm willing to give one more lecture ... maybe classical
stuff on weak graph coloring (if that's of interest to the group);
however, I'd *PREFER* not to do so on April 1 or April 8 because those
two weeks will be high-stress weeks for me for other reasons.
This means I need at least three more volunteers: One for 1.Apr, one
for 8.Apr, and one for either 15.Apr or 22.Apr.
For those of you who have not volunteered yet, you might take a play
from those who've already gone: Put yourself on the hook for
explaining something that you WANT to know more about yourself.
Remember that you do not have to be an expert ... it's a constructive
audience.
R. Paul Wiegand.
