Random Graph Models and an application in finding Hamiltonian Cycles
in Random Graphs.

Our schedule afterwards is as follows:

Thu.29.Sep: Abdullah talks in HEC 450
Thu.6.Oct: Albert talks in HEC 356
Thu.13.Oct: TBD in HEC 356

Hey everyone,

I'll finish going over the Hamiltonian Cycle algorithm next Thursday.
As I mentioned today, this is from section 5.6 of Probability and
Computer by Mitzenmacher and Upfal.

If one were to Google for "probability and computing mitzenmacher pdf"
they may find some useful links.

Hi everyone,

So due to a very hectic week I have not had time to prepare for our
meeting tomorrow, where I was supposed to finish going over the HC
algorithm for random graphs. Unless anyone else has a topic on which
they can present tomorrow, I'm afraid I need to postpone my talk until
the following Thursday. Alternatively, we could pick a group reading
and go over a chapter on something many people are interested in.
Suggestions are welcome.

If we don't hear back from any group members suggesting a topic for
tomorrow, let's assume tomorrow's meeting is cancelled and we will
resume the next Thursday, October 6th.

In the meantime, many of you may be interested in the Google talk
going on tomorrow in HEC 101 from 11-12:30. Several current and past
Googlers will be talking about working at Google and their projects.
It should be pretty interesting to hear about what sort of
opportunities there are, and I think there will be a good bit about
how to apply and interview at Google if that's something that
interests you. It looks like it'll be pretty packed, so I'd suggest
getting there a bit early if you want a seat :)

Let's go ahead an postpone. I'll need to talk to Abdullah and Albert
about how they want to shift their weeks around, but I guess I'll see
them today, anyway.

Unless we hear otherwise from Stephen, let's assume we *are* meeting
today in HEC 356 from 2:30p -- 3:30p. If we do not have a topic to
discuss, we can spend a brief time settling the schedule a bit then
break up early.

I'm sorry for the late notice on this but I thought we had another person scheduled to present today already (on a topic in abstract algebra if memory serves correctly?) I have not prepared the rest of my presentation and am not sure i'll be back on campus by 2:30.

We can either meet with the algebra talk (assuming the presenter is ready) or just meet to discuss the schedule.

I was confused by your comment from last week's email; I apologize.

The confusion, in general, seems as good a reason as any other to meet
for a few minutes, at least. If someone has something ready (unlikely
but possible), they can talk. Otherwise, we'll just square up what
we're doing and when for the next few weeks.
