UCD VSA Alumni 2017 Memory Lane Reunion

We would like to thank anh Tuấn & chị Mai-Kha for their generous offer to host the reunion at their house in Sacramento. 

Nevertheless after seeing the exuberant FB posts from Châu Linh & her friends' recent mini-reunion in Davis, the planning committee has decided to have the UCD VSA Alumni Reunion in Davis to fully capture the nostalgia or "nightmares" (for anh Tuấn Ngô 😂) that we have long treasured or ... suppressed 😂 since the day each of us left UC Davis.  

Below is our tentative UCD VSA Alumni 2017 Davis Memory Lane Reunion program:

11 am-1 pm: Picnic at Farmer's Market at Davis Central Park. Self serve lunch at local food trucks & food stands. 

1-5 pm: Campus & city bike tour. Destinations & meeting points to be announced 

5:30-8 pm Dinner at Taste of Thai in downtown Davis

8-10 pm: Walk around evening tour of downtown Davis. Desert/coffee location to be announced.

I was in Sacramento last weekend and had a chance to see anh Tuan whom I hadn't seen since he graduated in 1981, 36 yrs ago! It was a brief meeting at Starbucks but we were talking nonstop & had a great time reconnecting. 
I took the liberty to include in this email all of my UCD friends whom I think might know anh Tuan  when he attended UCD from 1979-1981.

Nice to hear from you Mr. President Nguyên, the second UCD VSA president after anh Dũng.  

FYI, with Mai Anh's networking talent, we're trying to contact the current UCD VSA to help us reserve the Putah Creek Lodge & Picnic lawn area for a BBQ picnic. Anh Tuấn Ngô has volunteered to be our BBQ chef. The PC Lodge is nicely air conditioned and was the location of many dance events back then. Surprisingly the whole area still looks 

the same. Recent picture:

Anh Nguyen, 

Your suggestion is excellent if we have no more than a dozen people, however UCD requires a reservation to use PC picnic area, especially with our big group, so far ~40 and I think eventually ~50-60. 

A few of us will pitch in to help plan the BBQ with anh Tuan & we will all share the cost. 

Like your "100% go for a picnic at PC" response, I think most alumni would also prefer PC for nostalgic reason. 

Mai Anh, Diep & I are working hard to get help from current VSA officers to reserve the PC picnic area for us . Will keep you posted.

Nguyen would 100% go for a picnic at Putah Creek (instead of the previously proposed Farmer's Market).  Putah Creek was once where we the good, bad and ugly converged.  This time however we all will appear shockingly beautiful.  To simplify planning, everyone should bring at least a small lunch portion (besides the proposed BBQ by Tuan).  Furthermore, we wouldn't need the Putah Creek Lodge (save Mai-Anh's time), since we would be just a small group having the picnic on tables, lawn, and under trees outdoors.
