Announcing Summer Party Saturday Oct 5, 2013

We're official! Our alumni summer party will start promptly at 5 PM at Lan & Tracy Vu's residence in San Jose. We'll have live band, live music and ballroom, courtesy of our own Tuan Ngo & his band.

To make things simple, we chose potluck format. If you already signed up, please come back to the list and add food items you'll bring to the party when you have decided.

We need everyone's help and co-operation in the following areas to make this another successful event:

1. We need singers to sing with live band and also karaoke singers. Plenty of music sheets will be provided to select from at the party, also huge karaoke song selections. If you know the songs you'll sing with the band, please register them in the sign-up sheet.

2. We need some activities for kids to keep them entertained outdoors, frisbees, water baloons, cards, monopoly etc.

[Anything else you can think of, your ideas are welcome!]

We'll meet for lunch this Friday 9/20 at noon, location: Ta restaurant, Milpitas. Our Dzung tong will be joining us after long absence.

We're a only couple of weeks away from the party! Thanks for those who have signed up. If you haven't, please do so at your earliest convenience. If you've decided what to bring, please update the sign-up sheet. Also dust up that guitar and practice singing again, we'll have a live band and prof karaoke system.

Please contact other alumni friends and ask them to join us. Bay Area folks, there are no excuses not to join us; after all, this is only once a year event. Also next year, we're planning to hold the event at a different location (to be discussed at lunch and disclosed at the party).

Hi all,

We're just one week away from our exciting party with live band and guest singers for the first time. Please help with the following:

1. If you have not signed up, please consider doing so ASAP, and tell a friend. Notes from out Tuan Ngo "My band will have a keyboardist, bassit, drummer, and 2 lead guitarists. Make sure to contact UCD member and entice them to participate.  It's the first time we make it big, so we want to see all are there." Here's the link to sign-up sheet:

2. For those who signed up but have not chosen potluck items, please do so at your earliest convenience. You can change your mind later, but for now we want to make sure we don't bring the same dishes. Note that you can sign up for drinks including wine and beer, plastic utensils, paper plates and cups, napkins etc.

3. You can share your singing talents and entertain people, just sign up for songs in the sign-up sheet or from the link below. This way the band can rehearse beforehand. Of course you can choose songs at the party as well. I'm also adding a couple group songs (Ngan thu ao tim for ladies and Nhung buoc chan am tham for gentlemen), feel free to make suggestions.

4. We need a couple professional or amateur (but enthusiastic :-)) cameramen to take pictures of the party and shares with the group. Many thanks in advance.

5. If you have folding chairs (camping or sports types) please bring a few. We anticipate about 60 attendees at this party.

We have a few announcements to be made at the party. For instance, attendees will get to vote for proposed date and location of next year's party (hint: less than 2 hours from Bay Area). More to be revealed at the party.

Weather looks great for next Saturday with warm-up trend starting today. Let's pray it won't change.

Hope to meet many of you next week and enjoy a wonderful time together.

We're all set for tomorrow's party starting at 5pm. The weather will be perfect (mid 80's). Do bring a jacket, it could get a bit chilly at night up on the hills, and we'll be outdoors a lot. All information you need including address and phone numbers is on the sign-up sheet.
