Hey all,

Two weeks back we didn't end up discussing the Merleau-Ponty reading,
"Man seen from the outside" in depth. So, this week we're going to
pick it back up. The essay is a great introduction to phenomenology
because it's a transcription of a brief, simple lecture on French
national radio meant to explain the concepts to laymen. He asks us to
question our fundamental understanding of mind as place where my
feelings and "I" exist by examining an angry man from the outside and
noticing his body language, ways of interaction, and my responses are
all involved involved in the "anger".

The essay can be located on our Google groups page:
http://groups.google.com/group/ucdphilosophyclub/files and is called
"MPonty-Man From the Outside.pdf" or in the text digitized here:
http://apertum.110mb.com/library_10/Merleau-Ponty%20-%20The%20World%20of%20Perception.pdf

So, join us next Tuesday (November 2nd) at 5:30 in the Honi Haber
Library (PL M108 Room A),
