Hello there!
At the end of spring quarter, I wrote to you asking if you would like
your ANT 143B paper published in FilCRO's research journal, Kinabukasan
(meaning "For A Brighter Future"). I'm writing you again to ask if
you're still interested.
Like I said before, getting your ANTHROPOLOGY PAPER PUBLISHED would be
beneficial for both you and for the entire Filpino American community.
FOR YOU: you get the chance to say that your work has been
published, that others have seen what you can do.
FOR THE FILIPINO AMERICAN COMMUNITY: you help our community by
providing information on subjects that we know little about.
Believe it or not, the work you did for your anthro. paper is real
research! You wrote about things that aren't easily accessible to most
readers interested in Filipino and Filipino American history. And we at
FilCRO want to share what you've learned with other people.
Now you're probably wondering, "What would I have to do if I turn my
paper in?"
Nothing, much, really. You might have to do some small editing but we
want to keep as much of your work intact as possible. And I would
probably have to edit it since I don't think we can publish all 8-10
pages of your work. So, I, as editor, would simply cut it down and get
a good excerpt.
So, if you're interested, please email me over the summer so I know
you're interested. And if on the off chance that you're not interested,
then email me too so I won't bug you anymore.
Oh, and you know, FilCRO is interested in any papers or research that
you've done in ANY CLASS. So I hope that you would also consider
turning in other papers.
Thanks so much for your time. And I hope you really do turn something
in. Cuz FilCRO wants to help out the Filipino American community by
informing us about our history. But we can't do that without YOU!
Thanks again!
chrissie

I always thought that since interviews are primary sources, the
research paper is more "real" than research done with secondary
sources (literary sources, i.e. books, magazines, and... God-forbid...
encyclopedias). Just a thought.
