Steve,

Since the G3 has built in power management, and will turn off the monitor
at whatever interval you choose, you don't need a screen saver. I would
un-install after dark and not use it at all. I have had many problems on
many different platforms with after dark.

If you really want to use after dark, then try their technical support.
They helped me with a problem last year.

I hope this helps,

Ron

Try unchecking the 'SystemIQ Activity Monitor' in AfterDark Control Panel
-> Setup button. I had a similar problem with the PPP software that flashed
an icon when I was online. Unchecking SystemIQ makes afterdark only pay
attention to mouse & keyboard activity to determine when it should sleep.

Hello Mac Users:

I have a Mac problem that I cannot, as of yet, figure out and, since It's
been over 6 years since I've worked with a Mac, I confess I'm in a steep
learning curve right now.

I have a Power Mac G3 (bought this quarter), 300MHz, 8.1 OS, 160 MB RAM, 6
GB HD, Floppy drive, Internal Zip, 56K modem, sound card, with a 17" Color
Sync Monitor. I think that about covers it.

I installed the Color Sync software, Office 98, FileMaker Pro, and printer

software, and a few other applications, and then After Dark 4.0 Deluxe. I
can't get the screensaver to come on. Initially, the energy saver came on

When you say "printer software," what kind of printer are we
talking about?

Recently, I was asked to solve a similar problem with a G3 Mac
connected to an Epson 800 color inkjet. The epson software installs
an extension in the Extensions folder that kept the machine "awake."
Removing this extension allowed the machine to go to sleep and
caused no negative effects on printing.

I believe the extensions name was "Epson Listner", but I am not
sure. You will know which extension to remove because its icon look
different from all the other extensions because it is in use.
