Original email:
Hello,
I have an unusual but very important request: Nalini Ambady, an Indian psychology professor at Stanford, has leukemia and urgently needs a bone marrow transplant. She has only 7 weeks left to find a matching donor, who most likely has to be Indian as well. Nalini is a mother of two, a beloved professor and mentor, and a wonderful person. You can find out more about her at www.nalinineedsyou.com.
You can help save her life by joining the bone marrow registry. This is very simple and takes almost no time. Search for a nearby drive that you can join in person here or complete the online registration below.
1) Complete the online registration at http://marrow.org/Join/Join_Now/Join_Now.aspx?promo_code=nalini (if you’re in the US) or http://datriworld.org/ (if you’re in India). This takes less than 10 minutes.
2) You will receive a kit in the mail. You swab your cheek with the provided cotton swab and mail it back in the pre-stamped envelope.
That’s it!
Finally, please forward this email or share these links with your South Asian friends, relatives, and colleagues, even if you do not sign up yourself. Visit www.nalinineedsyou.com for more information and ways to spread the word, or if you have any questions, please shoot an email to helpna...@gmail.com.
P.S. Does donating bone marrow sound painful or high-risk to you? It's not! Donating marrow is similar to donating blood. If you have questions about the processes, you can find an answer here.
