Description:

HISTORY OF THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE. Author: Edward
Gibbon. Editor: H. H. Milman. This edition was published by A. L. Burt
Publishers of New York. While the set is undated on the copyright
page and the date of June, 1845 appears at the end of the Editor's
Notes, this set is believed to be the Burt reprinting of 1900 due to
the set's near-pristine condition. Complete in five half-leather
volumes with gilded top page edges and raised gilded bands on spines.
Marbled end papers. Each volume of this edition contains between
650-700 pages and measures 7.5 x 5.75. There are no dust jackets as
issued.
