Looking for classification schemes for Urban Land Use...
My name is Martin Hvidberg. I'm researcher at the Danish Forest &
Landscape Research Institute, a research unit of the Ministry of Energy
and Environment. My key field of interest is GIS related to physical
planning.
As an integral part of the national Danish Area Information System (AIS)
- a co-ordinating and data capturing project of the Ministry of Energy
and Environment - I'm in the initiating phase of a subproject dealing
with classification and mapping the urban areas in terms of land use.
The result of these analysis will be a GIS data layer, showing Urban
Land Use classes for aggregated areas, preferably about city block size.
Each block must be associated with one class. These classes may or may
not be mix classes.
The main approach is to use geocoded information of the central Danish
Building and Dwelling registry (2.2 mill records) which includes
information on the actual usage of the building unit and the building
area. The geocoding will be based on addresses obtained from
interpolation of digital road network information. Most likely the
spatial aggregation will be based on cadastral maps. I expect spatial
accuracy of approx. 1:10,000.
If you have any information concerning this type of classifications,
please don't hesitate to respond. Literature, names of researchers or
institutions and of cause any description of classifications are
welcomed.
