Hey SEEDS,

Just a quick reminder that we're meeting tomorrow for elections and end of the year activity!

We're meeting tomorrow, Tuesday April 12 at 5pm, in front of 251C Hilgard where we met last week. If anyone is using it, we'll go to another location, so please come on time so we don't leave you behind! In case you do get lost, call me! (858) 208-9251.

The plan!!
1. Elections
2. Science Lesson April 25, 8:30am at Malcolm X
3. Cal Day details and when can we make our seed paper?
4. Volunteer Opportunities! April 17 with Susan of Friends of Five Creeks.
5. Flora's stories from the SEEDS Leadership Conference in Flagstaff

If you can't make it to the meeting but want to be the science lesson, cal day, seed paper making, or volunteering, don't be shy! Shoot me an email.

Thanks guys! See you there.

Hi everyone,

My name is Mariah I'm the co-founder and former president of SEEDS! I work every Tuesday until 7pm which is why I cannot come to meetings :( I stepped down at the beginning of this semester when I decided to take time off from school  in order to work. I helped to start SEEDS along with Susan Kishi and a couple other grads and undergrads in Fall of 2009. Since then, I poured my little heart, lot's of time and energy and motivation into transforming group of a few students and an idea into a club with an amazing mentor program, a vision for education in the community, and a unique place amongst the many environmental clubs at Berkeley.

I felt taking time off would give me a really good opportunity to step back and look at the club from the outside in. THIS WAS ONE OF THE SMARTEST THINGS I HAVE DONE!!

Oops!! I sent that out too early before finishing! Tricky computer:

Anyways, as I was saying: I've really been able to look at SEEDS with a new perspective and value it SOOO MUCH!! I'd love the opportunity to come back with all this pent up enthusiasm and ideas for organization.

Here a few more points, then I'll be quiet:

-I'd love to tap more into the resources that the ESA has (egological society of America), I've made great contacts there who I keep in contact with and would love to send more people to national conferences (fo'free!!)
-I see the club is now focusing on education primarily, that' great!! Let's keep it going if that's what ya'll love!!
-I've also spent this semester building up contacts with a lot of organizations that I feel share similar goals of the overlap of minority issues with environmental issues... we could explore those!!
-I'm gonna be busy next semester, but not that busy! I guarantee I'll have time to devote to SEEDS
-I like to cook food and share food, let's eat and plan and make meetings really fun!!
-for those of you who don't know me because you've joined this semester, I don't know what to say!! Nice to meet you!

OK, please shoot me an email if you have any questions. If you're running for pres as well and want any pointers, let me know!! I'd love to know who else is interested.

Warmly,

Mariah

Hey,

It's too bad you can't make it to the meeting! I'll make sure everyone at
the meeting knows about your nomination, and I'll let you know what the
result is.
