Following a botched robbery, the getaway driver of a four-man crew was presumably shot as there are three bullet holes shown in the driver's side window. The getaway car is shown out-of-control and then crashing into an abandoned warehouse, with the driver shown dead, his head resting on the steering wheel. The other three criminals, Stacy, Walker, and Gage take refuge in the warehouse. Stacy contacts another driver, but they won't be picked up until the heat dies down the next day. While Stacy and Walker discuss cracking a stolen safe, Gage is in opiate withdrawal and desperate to shoot up. Gage is revealed to have messed up the robbery when he left his post to steal drugs from a pharmacy. As they wait for morning, Stacy thinks of his girlfriend Grace who had left him years before, but asked him to join her. Stacy is hesitant to leave a life of crime. Walker tells Stacy a story from when he was younger; a failed burglary led him to stealing a number of fish from a pet store as a gift for his daughter. However, all the freshwater fish died in the saltwater, but the saltwater fish survived.

Stacy is pursued by Blue into the dog fighting ring; he is shot again, this time severely. As Stacy lies wounded and helpless, Blue tells him a story of how he acquired his first mastiff. This mastiff was owned by his neighbor, and was tearing through Blue's mother's garden. The neighbor did nothing to stop it, so Blue killed the neighbor and took the dog. He chastises Stacy, saying a dog doesn't understand ownership, but a thief, like Stacy, does. The mastiff arrives in the ring, surprising Blue. Blue aims his gun at the dog, but in a moment of egotism, lets his guard down, and the mastiff attacks. Blue and the mastiff wound each other fatally. Stacy crawls up to the dying dog, patting him on the head and calling him a good boy.

Background: Gun-shot wound head injury comprises a substantial fraction of combat injuries and a major cause of death in the battlefield. Current shielding gear is totally ineffective against bullets, because bullet-proof materials are too heavy to be worn on the head. The aim of this work was to describe the anatomic distribution of bullet entry wounds to the head in combat fatalities and to discern whether distribution is random (null hypothesis) or not.

Methods: We retrospectively examined the forensic external examination reports of all Israeli Defense Forces combat fatalities during the years 2000 to 2004, the Second Lebanon War (2006), and Operation Cast Lead (2009) and mapped the exact anatomic location of all bullet entry wounds to the calvaria.

Results: We found 76 gun-shot entry wounds to the heads of 49 fatalities. Among these wounds, the occipital and anterior-temporal regions were found to be hit significantly more often than expected compared with their relative surface area (p < 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). Fifty-five percent of all injuries occurred within 15% of the surface area of skull.

Conclusions: These findings imply that gun-shot entry wounds to the head are unevenly distributed. A partially bullet-proof protective helmet may prevent a substantial fraction of injuries (and fatalities) without a significant weight addition to the helmet.

There are two basic methods for creating a large buoyant head on a dry fly:

  • spinning and shaping flared hair, and

  • building a bullet head.

The best argument for the bullet head is that it's a quick cinch to tie compared with the flared-hair head.

Yes, the bullet is the more fragile of the two, but if made right, it's tough enough.

The hair-tips of most bullet heads flare out to suggest insect-legs.

Some tiers trim away the hairs from the underside to expose the body and, perhaps, to make the leg-effect more distinct. But as with all aspects of tyingflies, bullet heads have their variations.

The Madam X for example: its head is kept entirely atop the hook so that the hair-tips form not legs, but a wing. The legs are formed ofrubber-strand, bound at the sides of the thread collar securing the head.

The Goldenrod and Salmonrod, stonefly imitations developed by my friend Rod Robinson, have short hair-tips, short enough to lie neatly down atthe sides.

Rod has two ways of creating the legs:

  • with a hackle wound over the front third of the body or,

  • as with the Madam X, with rubber-strand bound at the sides.

Stability is key while slicing through water, so reach for this minimalist snorkel engineered with hydrodynamic features. It offers maximum vision and drag reduction thanks to a low profile, along with a smaller tube opening that improves lung capacity by reducing air flow. Comfort is no issue as a padded TPR headband eliminates the onset of headaches and pinching.

This little streamer is a fantastic little smolt or minnow pattern. Custom tied just for Pacific Fly Fishers, the Bullethead Streamer is perfect for our local anglers imitating fat head minnows on Pass Lake. It has developed quite a following for anglers headed to Pass Lake, but it has proven itself in all kinds of other waters as well.

Bullet head nails are a normal all-purpose type of nail with a diamond style point and plain shank. Bullet head nails have a small head so that you are able to punched below the timber surface and then after that filled. Bullet head nails are suitable and used for framing, planking and cabinetwork, formwork construction. When you are nailing bullet head nails into your timber drive it straight flush into the wood to avoid damaging and ruining your timber and also avoid brushing the timber.

Practice makes perfect. This snorkel is for swimmers looking to increase their cardio capacity and overall stability, while standing out in fun prints. It features an adjustable headpiece to ensure comfort with every stroke for more efficient training sessions.

Comments: I do a lot of fishing with the Owner hooks and they are tough to beat but, I tried the Decoy (JDM product - terminal tackle) and they are about the same with a few more options on size ( have 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0) and weight. They are very very sharp and while they may flex a little bit more on the 1/0 size, they are still strong enough to pull in any bass I have hooked into. They have slightly more bend at the hook tip, so they bury into a plastic lure a little deeper making them slightly more weed free. If you are a fan of the owner bullet hook I would suggest you at least take a look at the Decoy VJ-36 bullet rig (very similar pricing - very slightly less expensive). I purchased a number of them from Tackle Warehouse in the past and then they stopped carrying them, glad they have them back.

Comments: Great jighead for 4" Keitech easy shiners. I do wish they had a version with a heavier hook, I've never lost a fish but they do have a lot of bend in them. I do like the lighter hook for fishing with lighter tackle. There is also a pretty big gap between these and the sled heads with a 4/0 hook so either offer these with a heavier hook or a sled head with a 1/0 or 2/0 hook.

Comments: Great little finesse jighead. I like the 1/8 or 3/16 with a 4" Zoom Dead Ringer or a Strike King Baby Rage craw , that said just about any smaller bite size soft plastic will work with this. If using braid to leader step it down to a Medium action as the hook can be bent which I learned the hard way using a 7' MH rod as a bent hook cost me a big one.

Comments: These are my favorite heads for tubes, especially around brush. make your tubes look like a wounded minnow plus the design allows you to fish a lighter head and gain a greater depth.

Practice makes perfect. This snorkel is made for young swimmers looking to increase cardio capacity and enhance proper streamline positioning. It features an adjustable headpiece with a foam forehead pad to ensure comfort with every stroke. A purge valve expels excess water for less inhalation and more efficient training sessions.

Most people learn about gunshot wounds from watching television or going to the movies. From "Gunsmoke" to "The Sopranos," and action packed films, guns and violence are often integral parts of the story line. Being shot on the screen can result in instant death, drawn out death scenes, or heroes who brush off the injury and save the day. In real life, the same alternatives exist, depending upon what type of firearm and bullets were used, and where the bullet(s) entered and/or exited the body. It's all a matter of physics and how much damage the energy the bullet causes.

When a bullet hits the body, all the energy it has is transferred to the body tissue causing damage. The heavier the bullet and the faster it moves the more damage it can potentially cause. The laws of physics state that energy is directly related to the weight of the bullet, meaning that if the weight doubles, the energy doubles. But energy increases by the square of the velocity. Doubling the speed increases the energy fourfold. The purpose of a gun is to make a bullet go faster.

The type of bullet can also make a difference. If it is narrow and maintains its shape when it hits the body, it may be able to pass right through tissue without causing much secondary damage. However, if it's built to explode on contact, more tissue injury may occur. The way the bullet hits and enters the body is also important and has to do with the yaw, or side to side movement of the bullet as it enters the body. An analogy is a football thrown in a tight spiral, there is less resistance as it passes through the air than if it is moving side to side or wobbling. The more the wobble, the greater the potential to transfer energy to the body and cause damage.
