U CANN2 has three events planned for June.
· June 4: Planting day at the Moraine Township Community Garden
· June 18: Ravine Clean Up Day in Highland Park
· June 25: Book Processing at Bernie’s Book Bank

June 4: Saturday 8:00 am – Noon:
Planting day at the Moraine Township Community Garden
The garden has been cleaned up; it looks great and is ready for planting. There are 20 families who are participating in the Lake County Health Department’s nutritional education program ready to join us in the garden this year.
We could still use your help on planting day!
Please drop me drop me a note to let me know when you plan to join us. I just want to make sure we have enough tools to go around.
The garden is located in the southeast corner of Woodridge Park, in Highland Park. Woodridge Park is at the far south end of Barberry Road. Barberry Road is the first road west of the CVS on Clavey Road. If you search Woodridge Park, Highland Park, IL in Google Maps you will find it.
June 18: Saturday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Ravine Clean Up Day in Highland Park
We will meet at 9 am at MORAINE PARK, 2501 Sheridan Road and continuing at MILLARD PARK, 35 Ravine Drive
This event is sponsored by The Park District of Highland Park, the Gary Borger chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) and the Natural Resources Commission of the City of Highland Park
Volunteers will be cleaning up the ravine with TU members and under guidance of Parks Staff. The Park District of Highland Park will be donating a large dumpster for debris removal. So, let's fill it up! Another group will be led over to Millard Park to do in-stream work to include rock and woody debris removal, plantings, bank stabilization, and other habitat enhancement. All workers should bring water resistant boots or waders, work gloves, and eye protection such as glasses.
At Noon GBTU will be hosting a burger and brat cookout for all workers, at Moraine Park. This should be a great workday!

Book Processing at Bernie’s Book Bank
U CANN 2 is volunteering one Saturday a month at Bernie’s Book Bank. This month we will be there on June 25.
U CANN2 is very proud that we have been given responsibility for the Book Room at the Kid’s First Health Fair. We have partnered with Bernie’s Book Bank. Bernie’s Book Bank is a great organization, which is committed to getting gently used books into the hands of underprivileged kids. In the last year and a half Bernie’s has distributed over 220,000 books. Let’s help them help others.
