Thanks for the minutes from last night's meeting.

FYI, we have posted in several of the newsletters that if there is a
maintenance issue with the park,
they are to contact Public Works as this no longer go through us.
Typically, Sheila receives phone calls from compaintants and sends the
public works guys
out to fix things, or add bags. As a CITY PARK, maintained by Public
Works, It is up to the people who do the daily maintenance to let
Sheila know when the bag holders
need refilling. It should be on automatic ordering. Again, that part
of the park maintenance is no longer to go through us...just the money
:). Randy is the decision maker of
how things are repaired or maintained.

Also, we know there is an issue with children in the park, that again
is through the city. Randy is trying to reword that section of the
RULES, but we do not police the park, we do not have a
park attendant to blow the whistle. It is up to the parents to
control their children.

The newsletters have been on hiatus for the last few months for
several reasons,

1...there hasn't been any news to tell.
2...it's a lot of work, and I do it myself, and I just didn't have
the heart, energy or time to put that much time into it.

Hopefully there will be a July newsletter.

I hear there is a lot of frustration about "lack of info". I'm kind
of surprised by that since I have spoken to most of the committee
members over the last several months about there not being a reason to
meet until the lights go in. I think most of you knew that they were
on
back order, if I neglected to let you know, I'm sorry. We have no
projects, we aren't involved with the maintenance.

I believe we stated at the last meeting we wouldn't meet again until
sometime in July. I also have mentioned to several people in person
that "I" am not going
to initiate any fundraisers until the lights were installed. I have a
problem asking people for money when they see no results from the last
money they
donated. But that is me. I had been told that several of you have
discussed selling t-shirts in the park, but no one actually
volunteered to do it. I also heard
that there was an opportunity to sell shirts at a run, but again, no
one volunteered.

If any of you want to do something, please feel free. I believe at
one time we mentioned having an "Anniversary" celebration in the park,
but it fizzled due again to a lack of
interest, people being out of town or heat being an issue.

Bev and I have thrown around ideas for another wine tasting, but
again, we have several things to get information on before we meet so
we have options to discuss. We are up against several barriers -
where to have it while keeping our costs down, how to get more people
involved.
The upfront footwork takes several months and hundreds HUNDREDS of
hours. But we need more people involved in the foot work. We have a
couple of leads for who might be interested in being a sponsor. If we
can get better sponsorship than last year, the outcome may well be
better.

In the next couple of weeks we are going to be checking out a few
options and costs.

The facebook page is very active, people are still loving the park.
People are still very appreciative as well.

We have had two EAGLE SCOUT projects in the park. They have planted
several trees and built a ramp in the small dog park. This did not go
through us, this went through Randy. Hopefully there will be a
certificate of appreciation presented to them at one of the
CityCouncel meetings presented from the Mayor. Again, this was not a
Dog Park Committee item.

I hope you've all enjoyed your time off from not having meetings, or
work on fundraising. But I hope you will be open to suggestions for
maybe one more hurrah!
